After another funky pro rogue quest involving some difficult sneaking and me soloing a dragon boss with coincidentally rogue-counterable abilities, I am the proud owner of "The Sleeper" and "The Dreamer", already epic gemmed and landslided.
60 Gem clusters and one Madness kill to go before the shit turns orange. 3 bosses left in this week leaves 57 bosses required, meaning 7.125 weeks remain -- yes the .125 means i'll be one boss short after 7 weeks, and all because of getting 6 gems instead of 7 on Hagara.
Maybe I can rogue my way into one 25man boss kill to get 2 clusters, putting me back on pace for 7 weeks...

I'm expecting world class dps from you when you get those things.

I hope it's a nice upgrade, but I'm not expecting world class DPS. I looked at world class rogue DPS / WOL records, and most ridiculously great WOL rogue records have legendaries already. Even Termination in RNG has legendaries (but his numbers are meh, cuz he sucks), and the difference between stage 2 and legendaries is like the difference between some 391 caster staff and Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest -- approx 8-10% total additional DPS.
World class DPS requires everybody doing near-world-class DPS so the boss dies really fast, making your bloodlust uptime % higher. It often also requires a total change in strategy, like possibly cleaving 2 Morchoks. I would also need Dark Intent, maybe another rogue trixing me, and we don't run with a warlock. I wish stage 2 daggers meant that I was suddenly gonna bring the geeg, and don't get me wrong they'll be nice, but I simply have very little chance of posting logs against the world's top rogues.
Case in point -- Morchok 10m HM, we killed in 5:14 with our 4-heal strat this week, and i barely break 30k and I have nearly full boss uptime (cuz i soak stomps and I can usually stay in through black blood). Some top-geared subtlely rogues CAN do 40k (and get like mid-140s rank) with a similar boss kill time, but the cutoff to make top-200 at all is 38.5k DPS. Of the top 200 subtlety rogue logs, maybe 12 of them have a kill time over 5 minutes. [FYI, subtlety is superior to combat for Morchok]
The combat-rogue records for 10m HM Morchok are even more terrifying -- most of the top 20 kills have sub-3 minute kill times, and they cleave the 2 bosses for as long as they can survive. Only like 8 top-200 combat rogue logs have last more than 5 minutes. The rogues usually have Dark Intent, a caster in the raid with Ti'tahk that gives AOE haste, or both.
I'm definitely going to pick up a PVE Subtlety build for certain encounters that don't require cleave, like Morchok, cuz subtlety is interesting and can be really great in certain situations. Apparently optimal gear for subtlety involves 2-piece tier 12, for the burning crit, which I'll have to look into.

It was more of a compliment than an expectation.

We did firelands this weekend (Saturday) and I actually posted like 3 logs, including #7 -- obviously outdated content, but a fair number of people still do firelands I think, and it might be a sign of things to come...
